Why are we afraid?

 
• Fear of failure: No one wants to mess up in front of others, right?
• Fear of judgment: We worry about what others might think of us.
• Fear of not making sense: We’re afraid we won’t be able to communicate our thoughts clearly.
 
But guess what? These fears are totally normal! Everyone experiences them, even the most confident speakers.

 

So, how can we overcome this fear?


1. Acknowledge your feelings: Don’t try to deny your fear. Accepting it is the first step to managing it.
2. Prepare thoroughly: A well-prepared presentation will boost your confidence.
3. Practice makes perfect: The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll become.
4. Breathe deeply: Before you speak, take a few deep breaths to relax your body.
5. Find friendly faces: Instead of looking at the floor or ceiling, try to find people who look friendly and smile at them.
6. Think positively: Tell yourself, “I can do this” or “Everyone is here to listen to me.”
7. Start small: If you’re not ready to speak in front of a large group, start by practicing with friends or family.
 
Remember, everyone has the potential to improve. Public speaking is a skill that can be learned. With consistent practice, you’ll get better.
